OUR SUSTAINABILITY STORY SO FAR

Help us to help you to reduce your carbon footprint:

By leaving your car at home and taking our daily shuttle between Auckland and the Coromandel Peninsula you are helping to reduce harmful emissions into our atmosphere.

For the year ended 31st March 2022 we have estimated that by taking our shuttle you have stopped around 223,000 kg of carbon dioxide be released into our air!  This is the equivalent of over 11,000 tree seedlings growing for 10 years.

That is huge!

Just by taking the bus instead of driving yourself – or worse, flying -, you can help to make a big difference for our planet.

Why sustainability is important to Go Kiwi

We are a tourism transport business based in one of the most beautiful parts of New Zealand.  And we would like it to stay that way!

Sustainability improves the quality of our lives and protects the ecosystem we live in.  All our wonderful natural resources must be protected for our children, and their children.  It’s everyone’s job to do their part and we are no different.

Education

In early 2022 the directors of Go Kiwi completed a series of Sustainable Business Program workshops presented by Green Business HQ through Destination Coromandel.

From mid 2022 Go Kiwi will begin one on one meetings with a Sustainability Advisor from InStep to see what else we can do.

What we have done so far

  • Vehicles are not wastefully being washed daily, rather they are cleaned only when actually dirty.  They are not washed roadside either, all vehicles are taken to a local eco-friendly car wash facility who recycle a high percentage of their water and are a much more planet friendly option

  • Monitoring driver speeds, to reduce diesel usage.  Sharing this information with each driver to encourage them to improve.

  • Vehicles are maintained regularly to ensure optimal performance

  • Drivers are encouraged to reduce idling time and practice environmentally friendly actions

  • All cleaning products on the buses are now from Eco Store or Dazz tablets

  • Drivers are encouraged to use keep cups for their coffees on the go

  • We use all paper twice, by printing on the back for internal use

  • Recycle all glass, hard plastics, and paper

  • We are a Living Wage employer

Supporting local causes
